1. Get a menu tailored to your event, not a generic price list
A caterer who asks about your guest count, cuisine preferences and event type before quoting is more likely to give you an accurate number than one who sends a flat, generic price sheet.
2. Ask what's actually included
Confirm upfront whether serving staff, crockery, cutlery and buffet setup are included in the base price or charged separately. This is one of the most common sources of surprise costs on the event day.
3. Check how they handle dietary requirements
If your guest list includes vegetarian, Jain, or allergy-specific needs, ask how these are handled — ideally built into the menu planning from the start rather than treated as an afterthought.
